At a symposium held to discuss the achievements and challenges on the 15th anniversary of Busan's designation as a financial hub, Vice Mayor for Economic Affairs of Busan Metropolitan City, delivered a congratulatory remarks. Specifically, Vice Mayor highlighted that Busan, designated as a financial hub in 2009, is aiming to develop into a Northeast Asian financial hub by strengthening its role as a global logistics center and a specialized financial hub for maritime and derivatives finance, centered around policy financial institutions. He mentioned achievements such as the construction of core financial infrastructure through the mixed development of the Busan International Finance Center (BIFC), the concentration of financial public institutions, the creation of a global financial cluster, the cultivation of maritime and derivatives financial specialists, and the establishment of a fintech hub. Particularly, he mentioned plans to enhance Busan's global competitiveness by developing it as a central axis of the southern region and a base for finance, logistics, and advanced industries, with projects such as the construction of the new Gadeok Island airport, redevelopment of the North Port, relocation of policy financial institutions, and development of the Centum City Phase 2. He emphasized various efforts and plans for Busan to move forward as a global hub city, including the enactment of a special law for global hub cities and the launch of a digital asset exchange planned for October, supported by the government's will.
